Special:
Black Friday: Bluehost, Hostmonster & Justhost Sales
There is an opportunity to pick up an incredible value hosting account here. If you have read our Justhost Review you may already know that all of these companies are identical, both in terms of the plans offered, the server location, and the support team that runs it all.
Historically, Justhost (prior to being purchased by EIG) had a terrible reputation and as such they as a brand are marketed much more cheaply than Bluehost or Hostmonster, despite being the same product. Therefore, if you like the sound of Bluehost, or Hostmonster then by default you should love Justhost, especially when you see how much cheaper they are.
We are not sure about the exact Black Friday sales these companies have, as they are still showing their Thanksgiving sale. We suspect it will remain the same.
With the sale you can pick up hosting as low as $3.95 per month for Bluehost or Hostmonster. We recommend, however, to sign up with Justhost and get hosting for as low as $2.25 per month! You may have to sign up for a longer period to get this offer, but they do have an Anytime Money-Back Guarantee so you can always get a prorated refund if you no longer need the hosting for whatever reason.
We’ll will double check and update this page once all the Black Friday offer promotional material goes live.
You can get the discounts by visiting via the links below:

Five Best Domain Name Registrars

A domain name is the magic that turns a raw IP address like 69.60.7.199 into a human-friendly chunk of text like supportcoupon.com. Here's a look at five of the most popular domain name registrars that help you register and manage your domains.

1.       Namecheap (1 Year Registration: $9.98)

Domain registration at Namecheap is economical, as their name implies, but Namecheap hasn't built a name for itself just by offering the absolute cheapest deals in town. Namecheap's reputation rests on fantastic customer service and value-added packages. You get solid customer service, free email and URL forwarding, free and customizable domain parking, free domain transfers, dynamic DNS services if you want to redirect a domain to your home server, and more.

2.       1&1 (1 Year Registration: $4.99)

All 1&1 domain registrations include a simple five-page starter website (consider it a "super" domain parking package), an email account with 2GB of storage, and free private domain registration to shield your personal information. 1&1 also offers free domain transfer.

3.       Go Daddy (1 Year Registration: $11.99)

Go Daddy has built a customer base by offering cheap package deals (combining domain registration and web hosting) as well as frequent specials on domain registration. Go Daddy registrations include what amounts to a free mini-hosting plan. You get a five-page web site based on one of their templates, a photo album, blogging tools, and an email account with 1GB of storage. Although Go Daddy doesn't offer free private registration, if you register five or more domains, it's free for all of them.

4.       Name (1 Year Registration: $9.99)

Name.com goes beyond simple domain name searches and offers alternative suggestions including domain names that are currently held but up for auction. While the majority of us are looking to register domains cheaply and quickly, it's good to know that the domain other services would simply flag as "Unavailable" is actually up for auction. Name.com also has a service called Domain Grabber. If you really want a domain but it's unavailable, you can pay Name.com (typically between $20-50) to pounce on the domain should it become available.
5.       Gandi (1 Year Registration: $16.85)

Gandi's mission as a registrar and host is to offer clean, simple, no bullshit service. Every registration includes two free SiteMaker pages, one free DotClear2 blog, private domain registration, a free 1-year SSL certificate, and a personal email. If you manage a large number of domains, Gandi also offers a user-friendly dashboard with tag-based organization and search.
Now that you've had a chance to look over the five most popular domain registrars among Lifehacker readers, it's time to cast a vote for your favorite:
Want to give an extra shout out to your registrar of choice? Let's hear it in the comments below. Have an idea for the next Hive Five? Send us an email at tips@lifehacker.com with "Hive Five" in the subject line.

Why you should go with 1and1 web hosting?

1&1 is one of the largest and the most well-known companies in web hosting industry. The company is now owned by the German internet services company United Internet which owns other brands such as FastHosts and Sedo.com.
1&1 was first established in 1988 and can claim to be one of the largest hosting organisations in the world with more than 10.5 million customers and handling 11 million domain names. The company has 10 separate arms located in Europe and North America, each with its own website and hosting plans. The company is truly massive, so for the purposes of this review, I will focus on the UK arm, which was opened in 2000.
UK customers may already be familiar with 1&1 through its TV advertising. The company is focused on domain name registration and shared hosting services, although there are wide ranges of other services on offer.
Here are some good points that make me so happy to go with 1and1 web hosting:
1.       So affordable price
There are three shared hosting packages to be chosen from, including Basic, Unlimited and Performance. All of them have different features and accordingly they are priced at $5.99/mo, $8.99/mo and $14.99/mo regularly. Now the packages are promoted with a discount price starting at $0.99/mo, $5.99/mo and $10.99/mo respectively.
Like many web hosting providers, 1and1 also reaches out discount price at $0.99 only for the first year. So, don’t angry with them if you are so shock with the renewal price.
Anyway, no one has a price as cheap as 1and1 now.
2.       So nice support team
There are a range of support facilities offered by 1&1. Before going into these, it’s worth noting that each arm of the organisation has its own technical support contacts; in America there is a US-based email address and phone line, where in the UK there is a UK number and email address.
Technical support is available 24/7 and the phone line is a freephone number.
Customers also have the option to allow the technical support to view and guide them through a solution using the Netviewer application. The company also maintains a comprehensive list of FAQs for self help purposes.
1&1 has active Twitter and Facebook accounts (again, these are country specific: there are different accounts for German, US and other areas, so make sure you follow the right one for your location). Looking at the accounts, 1&1 do seem interact with their customers through these channels and will readily respond to support queries on social media.
There is also a YouTube channel where 1&1 videos are posted from time to time.
3.       Good security
Another aspect of this web hosting service worthy of mention is its security. 1&1 offers SSL certificates, which are essential for eCommerce websites. The web host also employs dual hosting, which means that your site is stored on two separate servers in different geographic locations (the service uses data centers in both the U.S. and Europe). This redundancy is important because in the event that one of the 1&1 data centers is compromised, your website will be supported on a server at a different location and won't experience any downtime.
4.       Relative Performance
The one true job a website hosting server is to deliver your website files as quickly and as reliably as possible everytime someone asks for them (by typing in your domain name).
Neither I nor my clients have ever had significant downtime with 1&1. They claim to have independently verified 99.9% uptime. That’s industry standard, so without monitoring tools, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.
The one thing I can measure is how quickly 1&1 delivers my files to a browser. There are a lot of variables that go into how fast a website loads, but one of the most important variables is how fast the server responds after the initial request – otherwise known as Time To First Byte (TTFB). Here are results of speed tests that I ran in early January 2014.

Those tests are not amazing, but they are better than some other major web hosting brands (ie, GoDaddy). So on performance, like pricing and options, 1&1’s main pro is that they are really just fine on the basics. The one last positive of 1&1’s performance is that they do provide plenty of memory to run your website. Below is a snapshot of the memory provided to WordPress.

Just for reference – WordPress recommends having 64M of memory to run. Often cheaper web hosts are notorious for skimping on memory provided, since customers rarely actually check that setting. 1&1 does come through on that.
1&1 Summary
1&1 is a part of a huge hosting organisation - and you can really tell. Its website is sprawling, and there are a range of options for customers in various countries.

The services it offers are comparable to many other hosting providers, but the sheer number of positive articles in the technical press suggest that this is a company that’s well-respected. This alone is enough to boost confidence.

Pros and cons of Godaddy web hosting

Go Daddy’s primary focus is domain names and domain auctions. Web hosting is offered alongside domain registrations, but the entire front page of the website (apart from the images of Go Daddy Girls) is dedicated to the registration of domains - hardly surprising, really, since they manage 53 million of them. Although domain registration is an important part of their business, we’re primarily going to look at their web hosting services.
On their website, Go Daddy claims that it’s the “largest hosting provider of secure websites” with more than 10 million customers hosting 5 million websites between them. Founded in 1997 under a different name, it’s one of three companies under the same umbrella (Blue Razor Domains and Wild West Domains are the other two). The company currently has used facilities in five US states and in India, and the headquarters are in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Go Daddy are known in the US for their outrageous Superbowl ads; the videos are archived on their site in a special ‘commercials’ showreel (or on YouTube in ‘uncut’ form). Why choose GoDaddy for web hosting?
We’ve listed somethings about it here for you to decide whether or not GoDaddy hosting is the right choice for you.
Convenience

GoDaddy is a great choice for registering domain names. Most webmasters already have a domain name registered with GoDaddy, so it only makes sense to purchase a web hosting account with them as well. GoDaddy makes it very easy for webmasters to link their domain name and web hosting account together. After all, combining your domain name and web hosting account into a single place is quite convenient. Yes, you can register your domain name with other web hosts, but they usually aren’t the best choice for domains.

Ease of Use

When you sign up for hosting – you don’t get a website, you get a place to “put your website” – as it were. So you get a dashboard to operate your hosting account – add domains, install files, manage databases, install WordPress, etc.
Since it is the backend of a server – it’s not going to be super-user friendly, but it’s also nice to be able to install and manage your account without having to learn programming.
Performance
The GoDaddy Web Hosting Performance team is the group within GoDaddy that is responsible for tuning our web hosting environment for peak performance. In order to do so, we measure the response time of a control page loaded on every one of our web servers, every 5 minutes. An Application Index (APDEX) score is calculated for every server, which rolls up to product location, to product to product group. The Hosting Operations Center team has a prioritized list of servers to investigate if a performance issue arises. The company has great situational awareness of the performance levels of its products and services.
Price & Features
Their economy plan is $6.99/month with 12 month lock-in – but they always give away coupons for longer lock-ins and you can push it down to even $3.49/mo.
Even though GoDaddy’s specialty is not hosting (they started as a domain registrar) – they are using their capital and market presence to really push down on prices.
If you go with them, you won’t have to worry if you are paying too much. (check out their prices here)
Conclusion
While GoDaddy has some negative factors, it’s still one of the largest internet companies and continues to make large profits. On a technical review, their web hosting is fairly decent. It’s not the best one out there, but does hold its own when compared to Bluehost, HostGator, and iPage.

What happen after I purchase Godaddy web hosting?

Once you purchase a Web hosting plan, GoDaddy stores your site on one of our servers and assigns it a unique DNS. The DNS serves as the address that allows people around the world to find and view your website. This unique address is required in order for people to view your site.
By purchasing a website hosting package, you're basically buying space on one of our servers. It’s similar to the space on a computer’s hard drive, but the server allows your website’s files to be accessed from anywhere.

What can I use to build my website?

You can build your website in several different ways – from hand-coding with HTML to using a website builder program.
If you require a lot of functionality and versatility from your website, you’ll benefit from programs and applications that can help you build your site. Our Web hosting plans give you access to free, server-side applications that can be used to develop and customize your website, including popular Content Management System (CMS) applications like WordPress® and Joomla!®.
They try to make building your website as simple as possible. If you prefer to use popular Web design software such as Adobe Dreamweaver®, Microsoft Expression®, and Apple iWeb, you can easily upload your files to your GoDaddy hosting account.

If I already have a website, can I transfer it to your Web hosting?

Moving your website to GoDaddy is a simple process. If you have access to your existing website files, you can upload them through our Hosting Control Center or via an FTP client. If you don’t have a current copy of your website, you should be able to request one from your current website hosting provider.
If you have any questions along the way, our 24/7 support team is here to assist you. They can help you determine the best method for transitioning your website to a GoDaddy account.

I just bought a hosting plan. Now what?

The first step is to activate your account. Just go to GoDaddy.com and click on My Account. You’ll be asked to enter your customer number or username and your password.
Once you’re logged in, you’ll see a list of products. Select the gray box next to Web hosting then pick the account you want to activate. Next, click the Launch button for that account.
You just have a few more steps to go.
Click on the Enter domain box then type in the domain name or choose the name from the list.
Enter your own FTP username or select the one they suggest. Create and confirm your password, click Finish and you’re done!

After you’ve completed these steps, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours for your new account to be fully active. Once everything is up and running, they’ll send you an email with all of the account details.

What is web hosting?

Have you ever thought about creating your own website? If you want to get a beautiful or elegant website I think you should research something related to a website basically such as web hosting, domain name, content, etc. These definitions are so easy to understand. You can know all of them fully after reading this article.
Nowaday, some clients want to have a free website and make it easily, they can use services from Wordpress.com, Google site or blogspot.com. But because of limited features, many others choose another way – using service of web hosting providers. So, what is web hosting?

What is web hosting?
Web hosting is a place where we use to store our data of website such as: document, pictures or videos. Thank to web hosting, all of people who use Internet can access and see our website and its content as well.

We need to go back the history to figure out why we have to use web hosting if we want to have a website.
In the past, when we started using computer, we wanted to save our pictures or documents in the computer. But we also want to share all of them to our friends who live far from us. We cannot bring our computer to their positions to show so what did we do?
We connected our computer to the Internet to upload our data on. But we cannot upload them into the air we need something to store and all people can access no matter where or who they are. Server was born. Server is nearly an enormous computer with a strong cable so that although many users access it, it still runs fast.
Are you wonder who own server? Well, the server is so expensive that only large companies can afford. As a result, many large companies or corporations usually built their own server’s system but other websites’ owners need providers of server. Thus, server providers are spring up like mushroom nowadays.
Web hosting has got functions like server but it’s much smaller. If we supposed server is a big house, web hosting is a room of the house. This house also stores data but it contains not too much.
So now, you can understand what web hosting is. But you don’t know which the best web hosting provider is now. Let’s discover it in next article by the name of “Which is the best web hosting provider now?”
What is domain name?

Concerning domain name, it’s so easy to understand.
If your web hosting is a room, your domain name is the name of that room. Because lots of rooms, we need name to recognize them.
Indeed, there are a lot of websites now. According to WorldWildWebSize.com, at least 0.25 billion website indexed (Tuesday, November 11, 2014). If we don’t have name for each website we will make a mess. Domain name is our solution. It looks like these: supportcoupon.com, google.com, yahoo.com, etc. Let’s type domain name into link spaces on Internet browser then press ENTER to access all data of that site.
You have to register a domain name to add it into your web hosting. Plus, nowadays, an organization by the name of ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) was born which protect registered domain far from other people.
Nowadays, GoDaddy is the largest domain name registrar with 58 million domains under management.
In Wikipedia.com wrote: “Of the registrars who initially entered the market, many have continued to grow and outpace rivals. Go Daddy is the largest registrar. Other successful registrars include eNom, Tucows, Melbourne IT. Registrars who initially led the market but later were surpassed by rivals include Network Solutions and Dotster.”
In short, to build a new website, you just need to buy a domain name and a web hosting and enjoy it. You will be surprised if lots of people visit it and read your content. Now, if you have a wonderful website with a nice content that lots of visitors everyday you will not imagine how much money you can earn. You will be a rich person soon. Let’s try with Google Adsense because many famous websites always use this to earn money. Good luck to you!

Which is the best web hosting provider?

Around the world now, there are millions of web hosting providers includes international providers and local ones. However, today, I would like to talk about famous companies because they are so professional and popular than the left.
According to statistic of Google, here are 5 companies which are found the most by users on search engine monthly: Godaddy (2,240,000/month), 1and1 (368,000/month), hostgator (201,000/month), bluehost (165,000/month) and ipage (165,000/month).
Now, let’s get started with me to figure out which the best web hosting provider is.
According to many nice posts about how to choose the best web hosting they said we needed to answer five questions as follows: (You can check this by typing how to choose the best web hosting on Google)
1.       Reliability/ uptime
2.       Customer service
3.       Pricing
4.       Company Stability
5.       Bandwidth/Space
Now, here is each question added on each provider:

1.   Reliability/ uptime

Go Daddy
1and1
Hostgator
Bluehost
iPage
99,9% up time
No say
99,9%
No say
No say
Those are some information about uptime on each provider’s official website. To know more and see objectively, let’s see all reviews from their customers about uptime.
GoDaddy:
We couldn’t find any uptime problems from customers in both good and bad reviews of Godaddy. Some people always have complements about their products. In all bad reviews, no one say about uptime. Here are some reviews about it:
From Gamias Gamiontas /Oct 8, 2014:
Excellent I have 10 sites on one hosting and works fine without any problem. I hope to continue like that for ever.
From Deepak patel/ Oct 9, 2014:
I am a user of Godaddy since 3 Years. In Between I use some another host also. But the features, Support and value I got there. I never got from any other host. One of my site was hosted woth another host and I always receive notification about "you site is using more resources so that we are taking down you site"
But I have hosted 5 Website with GODADDY but never get any issue. .
Excellent service.
1and1:
1&1 makes no claims or promises regarding uptime for web hosting customers, and neither is there an SLA or guarantee to reassure prospective clients. However, all data is stored simultaneously in two locations. Should one server fail, another will take over. This is a good provision, but the lack of uptime guarantee might put off some people.
From amir ali/ Sep 12, 2014
I have used many webhosting companies, 1&1 is one of my favourite website. Its support is very good always got my answers in no time.its uptime is also very good.In my view 1&1 rocks.
Some customers complain about 1and1 support but no one said about uptime.
Hostgator:
HostGator rent their data centre space from The Planet, using four of their facilities in Texas. Power back-ups, fire detection and constant monitoring from on-site staff keep their 12,000 servers safe and secure. They use 10 different fibre providers, including hardware from Time Warner and AT&T. They currently offer a 99.9% uptime guarantee (although they don’t publish any stats) and offer an RSS feed for service status updates.
Bluehost:
The company doesn’t make any headline claims about server uptime on their site: the most we could find was an offer of a toll-free refund policy should you leave as a result of a server outage. BlueHost do claim to monitor their servers round the clock, though, and their longevity in the hosting market - and dedication to controlling every minute detail of their hosting packages - does inspire confidence, despite the lack of any numbers.
iPage:
Websites created by iPage customers are hosted in two data centres in Boston, MA. Across the two facilities, they have 800 Dell servers. Each data centre offers round-the-clock security, N+1 AC and DC power and both have identical infrastructure. Customer data is mirrored across clustered servers to protect against downtime, and they also run UPS backup and have diesel generators too.
There are no details about uptime, and they don’t claim to have an uptime guarantee. Their servers are backed up daily using NetApp Snapshot.
Totally, all of these webs hosting provider always give out good uptime although some of them don’t show this on their website.
2.   Customer Support

Godaddy:
They have good support because many people feel so comfortable with their support team like these:
The help they gave me when I was first starting to build my wordpress blog was fantastic, I was pleasantly surprised to reach someone late at night who not only was easy to understand, but knew how to fix the problems. Thank You Godaddy. (larry brewer)
1and1:
Almost customers love to go with 1and1 but some people want to change:
1and1 was fine until I needed help. Then, the support was terrible. I mean so so bad it was like watching my life in a bad movie in slow motion. It took almost one month to get any kind of help, and even then I got helped only by going through Go Daddy. I made the switch permanently. DO NOT USE 1&1. Warned (Susan Gosnell)
Hostgator:
Like other providers, Hostgator also have bad and good reviews. Good reviews always say the best for them but there is a review commenting about their support team like this:
They cannot take care of new customers quickly and my guess there current customers either. The live chat sessions wait times are at least 30 minutes. While you are in the chat there is a long wait between responses of the representative.( John Secreti)
Bluehost:
I was so blow my mind with lots of good reviews for their support. It’s very good for a web hosting provider. Congratulation Bluehost:
My business knew no bounds since the day i got introduce to BlueHost, with 100% service uptime Bluehost stands out from the rest with great support and affordable services (Michael Richmond)
iPage:
Many people say support from iPage is the worst. Here are some examples:
Ipage is plagued with performance problems. I raised several tickets and their support sucks. Stay away... You've been warned (Ioannis Ioannou/Sep 17, 2014)
Worst support I have ever come across in my 16 years of development...customer service a close 2nd. iPage SUCKS.( Paul Flebotte/ Sep 18, 2014)
Totally, Godaddy and Bluehost are so good with customer support. We hope that if you love a friendly providers one of them is a good choice for you.
3.   Pricing

Go Daddy
1and1
Hostgator
Bluehost
iPage
$1/month
$0.99/month
$5.56
$3.95
$1.68

Look at the table you can see that Hostgator has got the highest price. And we think you get what you pay for. Choosing any one depends on your budget and other questions/ conditions in this article.
4.   Company Stability

All of these providers I said here have got a long life in the past and now they are developing and spreading continuously.
Here are years they were established:
Go Daddy
1and1
Hostgator
Bluehost
iPage
1997
1988
2002
1996
1998
Because of their reputation so don’t worry about moving another provider.
5.   Space/ Bandwidth

Go Daddy
1and1
Hostgator
Bluehost
iPage
100 GB/unlimited
Unlimited/unlimited
Unlimited/unlimited
100GB/unlimited
